At Hillsview, we believe that all students deserve the right to access a high quality Careers Education, Information, Advice & Guidance (CEIAG) programme to ensure they are given the help and support to enable them to make well-informed decisions towards their career choices. Hillsview follow the Gatesby Benchmarks and Statutory Guidance.

Careers Education Statement

Our careers education provides links to the world of work and raises the aspiration of our students. It comprises four key elements for all students throughout Key Stage 3 and 4:

  1. Work experience
  2. An independent personal careers interview
  3. Curriculum links to the world of work
  4. Additional events – for example careers fairs, aiming high days and university visits

Careers Guidance

Hillsview are a member of the Careers & Enterprise Company. Dr Robinson is Senior Leader for CEIAG and Mrs Strathern is our Careers co-ordinator and is Level 6 trained in careers delivery.

Students receive impartial advice from a Level 6 qualified Careers Advisers and also a range of external providers.

1:1 meetings take place with students to discuss a full range of opportunities available to them and students are given an Individual Action Plan to help them stay focused and achieve their goals.

We also work in partnership to deliver a variety of group work sessions to all Year Groups (including Year 6 transition).

At Hillsview we also have excellent working partnerships with local businesses including Middlesbrough Football Club, High Tide Foundation, PD Ports and Barclays Bank to name but a few.

Measuring impact - we track student progression at age 16 and 18 to measure the impact of our CEIAG programme.
