YEAR 11 SHINE CONFERENCE

A group of our Year 11 girls visited University of York Friday 1st December. The girls who attended have some high aspirations to work in roles such as a forensic psychologist, police officer, surgeon, social worker and nurse. They found the day informative as they learned about choosing A Levels, applying to university and budgeting at university. The day also involved a study skills ‘BrainBox’ session and a celebration of their time on the Shine programme. They were all worn out when we arrived back at 6.30pm but they had found it extremely useful too!

Year 11 Shine visit to York University

Today 15 of our Year 11 students graduated from the Shine Project. These students have been on the programme since Year 7 with York University.

The students were an absolutely credit to themselves, their parents and the Academy.

They were asked to attend in Business dress for their final day. Mia Fleming won Best Dressed Female, although I have to say I was very impressed with the effort a lot of the students did make.

Well done to them all

Today the students were outstanding showing lots of skills and qualities, such as:
  • Leadership

  • Problem Solving
  • Trust
All of the students were engaged and working with other students they may not necessarily with work or socialise with normally and they all did this well.
